Sept. 14-16, 2007, Greenville, MI

We went to a campground in Greenville, MI, with Jodi and her family. It was pretty chilly, and Mark ended up having to come home on Friday, because he wasn't feeling good at all. I had Brendan overnight on Saturday, so he and I went back up to the campground for the night. Again, it was chilly, but he had a ball!!

My turn

In learning about the opportunity to preach Sunday, I was both excited and nervous. I sat at the computer most of Saturday afternoon writing what God had laid on my heart to say. I practiced it as I wrote, and when I laid down that night I practiced in my sleep, exactly what my points were that I wanted to make.
The next day, Sunday, I made some changes and spruced it up a bit. But when I started speaking, I never once looked at what I have written down. This point has been gone over again and again at diffrent times since then, with diffrent people for different reasons.

Read John 3:16
God created man to perfect, the book of Genesis tells us that he created man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Note the words He created man. Does it say that He spoke man into existence? Does it say that he spoke and there was there was a big bang? No, it says that he created man out of the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. That means that God reached down from the heavens and with His own hands formed man. Man is the only thing in creation that God physically touched and created; man is the only thing the God imparted himself into. God created man and he called him Adam. (This means red clay) Adam was created because God desired to have companionship so he created man. And He instructed Adam to name all of the animals, fish, and birds of the air. As Adam names the animals he begins to realize that all the animals had a counterpart or a mate. And God says it is not good for man to be alone. So He put Adam into a deep sleep, and took from his side a rib. From that rib He created a woman now notice that Eve is created and again God creates again with his own hands. Adam wakes up see Eve and says this is flesh of my flesh and bone of my bone, he name shall be call woman. Adam begins to teach Eve and show her around the garden and explain to Eve the rules of the garden, and the names of all the creatures. Now God had planted two trees in the center of the garden the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and Told Adam of everything in the garden you may eat accept the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Later on we read that there was a snake in the garden and Eve perhaps comes by to eat of the tree of life and she gets stopped by the serpent.
The snake begins to talk to her Hey Eve doesn’t the fruit of this look good? Don’t you want to try it? One bites Eve? Eve replies, No we cannot eat of this tree nor shall we touch it or we shall surely die. The snake then replies, Did God really thou shall surly die? What was as the serpent doing? Does anyone know? He was putting doubt in Eves mind. After Eve eats of the fruit she realizes that she had done wrong. So now Adam comes along Eve probably says something like “Hey Adam, taste this fruit. Now the Bible doesn’t tell us if they were in front of the tree when Eve tempted Adam to eat. But we can speculate that they were not, why because Adam would have known where the fruit came from, Adam being a male and loving his wife Eve does as she asks. Suddenly the Bible tells us they realized their naked, so they run and hide sewing some fig leaves together and cover themselves. Now the Lord who is accustom to talking to Adam in the cool of the day, comes to the garden and say’s Adam? Adam? Where are you Adam? Adam answers, I’m here, we heard you coming and we hid ourselves, because we are naked. The Lord asks them who? Told you that you were naked? Adam did you eat of the tree that I told you not to eat of?
What does Adam say? It was that WOMAN you gave to me. She made me eat it. And Eve says whoa! Hold it! It was the serpent, He did it. It was the age old problem of pass the buck. So God covers them with the skins of an animal. Let me ask as anyone thought ever given this any thought? God killed an innocent animal for its skin to cover Adam and Eve’s sin.
Let me stop there and fast forward. To the New Testament, We find Mary a virgin girl about the age of 18 years old, Her future husband Joseph not knowing what was going on had plans to put her away because he thought like most men would she’s been having sex. Later both find out by an angel that indeed she is pregnant, but by the Holy Spirit. So Jesus as predicted is born of a virgin, which means he was born sinless, born a carpenters son. He lived 33 ½ years and taught the gospel and was put up on a cross to shed his blood for our sins. A death that we should have experienced. God once again gives an innocent sacrifice to cover our sins. Jesus said you cannot come to the father accept through me,
Acts 4:12 – reads neither is there salvation in any other; because there is no other name under heaven given among man where by we must be saved.
Are you here today with a feeling of emptiness? Is there a void in your life that you just can’t seem to satisfy? That void has only one thing that can fill it. Jesus Christ came to die for us He became the perfect Sacrifice. You see in the Old Testament they used the blood of lambs and sheep to cover their sin. But it was only a temporary solution. In the New Testament Christ became the ultimate sacrifice. Let’s pray, while our eyes are closed and are heads a bowed I would like to extend an invitation. If you are here and you don’t know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and you would like to accept him today would you raise your and put it down. Father we come to you today as humble people seeking an awesome God. Father makes yourself real to each person here today. I ask that you give traveling mercy to each one as they leave and head for home. Guide them safely we pray in Jesus name. Amen.
If any raised their hands ask them to meet at the cross and we will talk with you.

Labor Day, 2007, Ravenna, MI

This trip to Cross and Creek was just as fun as the last! Jodi and her family went too. We had a very good time.

On Saturday there was a pig roast as well as an ice cream social. Both of which were a lot of fun. There was also a concert by some of the seasonal campers at the campground. They sang a lot of oldies, but were very good!

On Sunday, Mark offered to do a church service under the cross. He did a really great job!!! There were 16 people there and they seemed to enjoy it! Click on the top picture to see the rest of our trip.

Cross and Creek, Ravenna, MI

A few weeks before this camping trip, we were at Sam's Club picking up some groceries. Mark had on a t-shirt that spoke quite well about being a Christian. A lady at the store had her cart very full of stuff and was having a hard time pulling it, so Mark offered to help her with it. She talked with him for a bit and then told us that we should check out their campground, which she said was a Christian place. She introduced herself as Barb, and said she was one of the owners. A few weeks later, we fell in love! Cross and Creek is an incredible campground with a gorgeous setting on a creek. In the front of the park is the cross you see in the picture above. It stands 60 feet above the ground! I tell you what, it is an incredibly humbling experience to stand under that cross and look up. While we were there, we met Monica and Tessa, daughters of two of the owners. They are very sweet girls and spent time with us at our campsite. I spend time talking to Monica online once in a while. I'm glad God brought us all together! We love Cross and Creek, very dearly!!! Click the picture to see our amazing time!!

As you probably have noticed, we like the KOA in Muskegon. This trip was exceptional! We had a beautiful site, right on the water, and right next to the bathrooms, which is a HUGE plus. Anyway, there haven't been many times, in my life, that I have seen a more gorgeous sky with incredible sunsets and sunrises!! God is AWESOME with His creation!! Click the sunset to see more!
